Meditation is an ancient practice that allows us to find the peaceful stillness that exists within. From this place, profound insights can occur and our ability to create an inner environment that encourages balance, wholeness and healing at the deepest level.
Many of us, however, are not familiar with exactly what meditation is, what to expect, how it 'works' and if we can do it. There is a growing body of research to support the efficacy of meditation. The practice is taught in many hospitals as part of a post surgical or post cancer rehabilitation program.

My personal meditation journey began after an illness and subsequent appointment with a physician who blended Western and Eastern medicine. I had reached a point with traditional medicine to understand how to empower myself toward a state of wellness and though there was no question that I was not well, all my test results were always 'normal'. I was looking for a treatment or medicine that would bring me back to a state of health. What I was surprised to receive from the doctor was a prescription I had never been given - He wrote on his pad "Meditation". No medicine, no treatment, no further tests. Meditate. I began to do this following the teachings of Deepak Chopra and the results were astounding. My return to health and wholeness involved many things but the most profound gift was to learn meditation.
This led me to study meditation further and also the study of Ayurveda which you can read about in another link on my website. I invite you to join me in learning more about meditation so that you too can experience the benefits of this simple yet incredible practice.
"Within you there is a stillness and sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be one with your true self. This sanctuary is a simple awareness of comfort and peace which cannot be violated by the turmoil of life events. This place is untouched by trauma and stores no hurt. It is the healing space that one seeks to find in meditation" ~ Author unknown
